Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Scriptura (the “bot” or “Service”), a Discord Bible bot operated individually by Prince (“we”, “us”, “our”).

By inviting, accessing, or using Scriptura, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Scriptura.

1. Eligibility​

You must be at least 13 years old to use Scriptura. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.

2. The Service​

Scriptura provides features such as scripture lookups and search functionality within Discord. The Service is intended for informational and devotional use.

2.1 Cost​

Scriptura is completely free and is intended to remain free.

3. License to Use​

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Scriptura within Discord, subject to these Terms and any applicable laws and platform rules.

4. Acceptable Use​

You agree not to misuse the Service. This includes (but is not limited to):

  • Using Scriptura to spam, flood channels, or disrupt communities
  • Attempting to bypass limitations, exploit bugs, reverse engineer, or interfere with the bot or its hosting
  • Using the Service in connection with illegal activity
  • Submitting content that is unlawful, threatening, harassing, hateful, or abusive
  • Using automated scripts or bots to excessively call Scriptura’s commands in a way that harms availability

You are responsible for content you submit to Scriptura (including search phrases and requests).

5. Enforcement and Termination​

We may, at our discretion and without notice:

  • Restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to Scriptura
  • Block Scriptura’s functionality in specific servers
  • Take action to protect Scriptura, its users, or our rights

We are not required to provide a reason, though we may do so when appropriate.

6. Third-Party Services and Content​

6.1 Discord​

Scriptura runs on Discord and your use of Discord is governed by Discord’s own terms and policies.

6.2 Bible Text and Data Providers​

Scriptura may retrieve and display scripture content using third-party Bible API providers (such as api.bible and/or other licensed sources). Bible text may be subject to the rights and terms of the respective publishers, licensors, and providers.

You agree to use displayed scripture content in accordance with applicable licenses and terms imposed by those sources.

7. Intellectual Property​

7.1 Scriptura​

Scriptura (including its name, branding, and original code) is owned by Prince or its respective contributors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

7.2 Scripture Text Ownership​

Scripture text and related content displayed through Scriptura are owned or licensed by their respective rights holders. Scriptura does not claim ownership over Bible translations or publisher content.

8. Privacy​

Our Privacy Policy explains what limited data we store and how it is used:

By using Scriptura, you agree that we may process information as described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimers​

Scriptura is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including (without limitation) warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that Scriptura will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or always available. Scripture content may contain formatting differences or provider limitations depending on the source.

10. Limitation of Liability​

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Prince will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses arising from or related to your use of Scriptura.

To the extent liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for all claims related to the Service will not exceed $0 USD, since the Service is provided free of charge.

11. Indemnification​

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Prince from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to:

  • Your use of Scriptura
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any rights of a third party (including content licenses)

12. Changes to These Terms​

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the Effective date at the top. Continued use of Scriptura after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law​

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to conflict of law principles.
